This publication presents the work of the intermedia artist and photographer Dita Pepe, who teaches creative photography at the Silesian University in Opava. It contains texts about Pepe’s photographic models, combining stylized photography with highly personal statements: the publication thus offers a penetrating psychological exploration revealing people’s motivations, life journeys, attitudes, dreams and desires. These deeply personal stories focus our attention on the authenticity and sincerity of the models. The stylization – of hair, make-up, light and space – enhances these personal stories to create a distinctive and unique means of expression which straddles the boundary between art and authentic records of reality. The rawness and sincerity of the models’ lives – combined with the visual revelation enabled by colour photography – create a compilation in which the reader/viewer can find pure, open human stories wrapped up in penetrating and revealing photographic forms.
