This publication, produced to accompany an exhibition held at the House of Art (Dům umění) in Ostrava, offers a structural account of the ideas and works of this important post-conceptual artist. Petr Lysáček’s formal approach spans a range of different media. His free mixing of media enables him to achieve creative freedom and above all to capture the multi-layered, complex nature of the contemporary world. His use of waste materials, visual repulsiveness and explosive expressivity provoke the viewer and stimulate thought. The publication includes a number of interesting texts by figures such as Jiří Surůvka and František Kowolowski, presenting their own distinctively personal views of Lysáček’s work. A letter written by Lysáček to the exhibition curator (František Kowolowski) provides a rich source of insight, revealing the artist’s thought processes and his inspirations while planning the exhibition.

Text in Czech only.

The catalogue was produced with the support of the Gallery of Fine Arts in Ostrava and the Šternberk Municipal Gallery (whose exhibitions are funded by the Czech Ministry of Culture).
